ScrollKiller at a glance

What is ScrollKiller?

ScrollKiller is an app that notices when you’ve slipped into mindless scrolling on social media and stops you, so you choose what to do next. It’s made in Europe.

How does it work?

ScrollKiller stops you when it notices mindless scrolling. Then it reminds you of the intentions you set for yourself, so you choose what to do next. Hard Mode is stricter: it also blocks the app the moment you open it, forcing you to pause for a few seconds and consider your decision before you enter social media.

How does it notice mindless scrolling?

On Android, ScrollKiller works by detecting swiping patterns in social media apps only. On iPhone, it spots mindless scrolling from the movement of your phone. Everything happens on your phone, so nothing is collected or sent to us.

Does it remind me of my intentions?

Yes, both apps remind you of the intentions you set for yourself. The Android app also has notes and a wheel that picks something better to do.

Which phones does it work on?

ScrollKiller works on Android, from Google Play, and on iPhone with iOS 18 or later, from the App Store.

Can it remove only Reels and Shorts?

On Android, yes: ScrollKiller can remove Reels, Shorts and other short videos on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X and Snapchat.

What data does it collect?

On Android, nothing is collected or shared. On iPhone, motion and location stay on the phone; only anonymous paywall and purchase analytics are sent.

How do people rate it?

ScrollKiller has about 4.6 stars from roughly 950 Google Play ratings (AppBrain, September 2026).

Do I still need willpower?

Willpower is real, and it can be built. Still, social media are built to be addictive, so “I’ll just try harder” rarely works on its own. ScrollKiller stops the autopilot so you can practice choosing what’s right, even when it feels hard.
